Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most lectures could not take place as usual. In our use case, students should learn how to program an Internet of Things (IoT) platform. Usually, the students work in groups of up to five people. In order to make it possible to work in groups remotely, a virtual laboratory was built. In this laboratory, the students can watch and program IoT hardware while being able to communicate in groups. This makes remote lectures with laboratory access possible. Later, a general purpose PC pool and an ethical hacking laboratory were added. The development of the laboratory started as part of a course on mobile security and was cofunded by Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences.

Development of a socially interactive laboratory allowing remote group access to laboratory hardware.

The PRISMACLOUD H2020 EU research project (public) is dedicated to enabling secure and trustworthy cloud-based services by improving and adopting novel tools from cryptographic research. The project brings novel cryptographic concepts and methods to practical application to improve the security and privacy of cloud based services and make them usable for providers and users. The main idea and ambition of PRISMACLOUD is to enable end-to-end security for cloud users and provide tools to protect their privacy with the best technical means possible. PRISMACLOUD receives 8~Million Euro funding from the European Union’s H2020 Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no644962 over a period of four years.

Supporting the composition of next-generation secure cloud services (WP7) (Apr 2015 - Aug 2016).

In the public FP7 EU research project 'RERUM' we developed, evaluated, and trialled an architectural framework for dependable, reliable, and secure networks of heterogeneous smart objects supporting innovative Smart City applications. The framework is based on the concept of 'security and privacy by design', addressing the most critical factors for the success of Smart City applications. RERUM received 3.5 million Euro funding from the European Union’s Seventh Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no609094 over a period of three years.

IT‐Sicherheitsprozesse wurden bisher immer separat betrachtet und in die drei Phasen: Vorbereitende Abwehrmaßnahmen, Abwehr von Angriffen, und Beweissicherung und Nachbearbeitung eingeteilt. Diese Trennung hat sich als nicht zielführend erwiesen. FORSEC überführt die drei Prozessteile in ein ganzheitliches, interdisziplinär ausgelegtes Konzept, einen integrierten Sicherheitsprozeß für hochgradig vernetzte IT‐Systeme. FORSEC ist ein Bayerischer Forschungsverbund, der vom Bayerischen Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst (StMWFK) mit 3,4 Millionen Euro ab 01.09.2013 für eine Laufzeit von vier Jahren gefördert wird.
